Hello, I'm Sydney, the designer behind Studio VDL.
I came to design from inside the businesses I now design for. For years I worked in cafés and restaurants, running busy floors and morning rushes, learning how a business actually feels from behind the counter: the schedules, the small daily problems, and how much the details matter to the people you serve.
Design came alongside that. I taught myself the craft, studied architecture as an architectural technician, and slowly built a practice around a simple belief: good design isn't decoration. It's care made visible. A clear brand and a considered website do real work. They make a business easier to understand, easier to trust, and easier to run.
I work with a small number of founder-led businesses at a time. I prefer it that way. It means I can give each project genuine attention, understand the business properly, and make decisions that hold up over time.

I learned that at Starbucks, of all places. The drink is only half the job; what people remember is how they were treated once the cup was in their hand. I built Studio VDL the same way.
When your site is ready, you choose what happens next. I can set it up so you can watch it, run it, and own it yourself, with everything explained before I step back. Or I can stay close and keep a hand on it with you.
People go back to the places where they were treated well. I want working together to feel like that, from the first hello to long after launch.
Walk me through how your business actually runs. The design follows from that, not the other way around.
Choices that hold up in year three, not just launch week. Nothing trendy, nothing fragile.
Some clients want me looking after things for years. Some want the keys and a clean handover. Both are built in from the start.
If you've built something you care about and want it to look and feel the way it deserves to, I'd love to hear from you.
Okay, let's
